The second in a series of five Shrewsbury buildings designed by LPA, the new high school was designed to replace the aging former high school which had served the town for 50 years.
The 290,000 square-foot building on 200 acres accommodates 1,700 students and includes more than 80 teaching stations, an 850-seat theater, and an athletic complex with a gymnasium containing four basketball courts and an indoor track. The new high school has become an important venue for community events as well as state-wide educational conferences and athletic competitions.
“LPA has provided the Town of Shrewsbury and the Shrewsbury High School Building Committee with extraordinary services and a magnificently designed high school facility…I have been immensely pleased and honored to work so closely with LPA over the last four years. Without qualification I recommend your firm to any town or school system searching for an architect to design and build a school to meet the diverse needs of students in the 21st Century.”
