An MSBA Feasibility Study undertaken by LPA for the Auburn Middle School concluded that a new 560 student middle school building serving grades 6, 7, and 8 was needed. The educational program for the 100,000 square foot school is a team-based curriculum with outdoor classroom space. The building is divided into separate Academic and Community-use spaces by a sky-lit entrance space which also functions as a lobby for the Gymnasium, Cafeteria and School Store. The building features low-maintenance interior finishes such as ceramic tile, sheet linoleum flooring, and stainless steel handrails, and has many “green” features, such as LED lighting throughout, reduced-flow plumbing fixtures, high-efficiency boilers and motors, and daylighting controls. Students will learn in state-of-the art flexible science labs as modeled by MSBA and utilize short-throw LCD projectors, laptops and tablets. Sitework included a multi-use synthetic turf athletic field. Using a Chapter 149A CM at Risk delivery method with early Sitework and Concrete/Steel bid packages, the project was completed on schedule and in time for the start of the new school year.
“The Lamoureux-Pagano team of professionals provided expert architectural guidance from inception to completion of the recently opened Auburn Middle School. Committed to ensuring that the end product reflected the vision of the School Building Committee and the school’s administration, communication was open and ongoing, resulting in a state of the art educational facility in which the entire Auburn community takes great pride. As the Superintendent of Schools, I would give LPA my highest recommendation for those considering a building project…you won’t be disappointed.”
